What To Know About Black Labradors
When trying to select which type or breed of dog is best for you and your family, it is important to really take some time and try to learn as much about the different breeds as possible. This will help make sure that you are picking the right breed for your family and for your lifestyle. After a lot of consideration, a lot of people find themselves wanting to look at Black Labradors, as out of all of the Labrador types this seems to be a popular choice.
Also, these dogs are widely known for their ability to work side by side with law enforcement officials in investigation work. They are incredible work dogs as well as incredible house pets and for some, they are a little of both at the same time. This breed is smart but does need housebroken in order to stay in line, as they will not automatically know the rules of your home.
There is a lot to love when it comes to Black Labradors and that is not just referring to how smart they are. These dogs are anything but your typical lap dogs, as they will grow to become very large. The females weigh in as the smallest but they are still anywhere from fifty five to seventy pounds. The males, the larger of the two, end up being somewhere between sixty-five and eighty pounds.
Their coat is smooth and short and they are prone to shedding so make sure that they are groomed on a regular basis. Their tail is pretty straight and is known to be somewhat on the strong side so you may want to watch small children around those tails. And it is those tails and coat that helps them with swimming as the tail acts like a rudder for when it wants to go in a different direction and the coat is almost waterproof.
Another thing that makes Black Labradors so incredible to have as a pet in the home is that this breed is known for their excellent temperament. They are not very territorial, aggressive, insecure or destructive, as some other breeds of dogs are.
They are also not very aggressive or territorial like some other breeds and this is great because those things can cause trouble from time to time. Also, the owner needs to keep in mind to watch their personal belongings, as this dog does like to chew. But, as long as proper training is given, this habit will cease.
Also, another factor to consider is that females are a little bit more independent then their male counterparts. And at maturity being reached around three years of age, you will have plenty of time to enjoy the puppy energy that they will most certainly show off.
Be aware that this breed does love its food and will always try and ask for more and more food so it is up to the owner to watch how much the dog eats in order to keep it at a healthy weight.
