Hand Held Medical Information Storage Devices-New Idea
A new health care idea has surfaced: a tiny mobile device that stores and uploads health information online. These small devices are being targeted for busy people who would appreciate a more efficient way to keep track of their health.
These devices are useful because they can be used to write down symptoms, to store important health care data that one might need to share with health care providers, as well as alerting a patient to take their medicine. This was reported in Sunday’s New York Times article.
Will this be a potential new trend in the industry? We would highly doubt it. The going rate for one of these things is around $200 - and it just doesn’t seem worth it.
Although, there is a software program that exists that is compatible with mobile devices, such as the iPhone. That might prove handy. In addition, electronic medical info and health records will probably become more rampant as time moves on. There could possible be a need for these in the big picture.
We would really be gung ho if the device was more helpful in managing your health insurance itself. Like if it could alert you to monthly premiums due, or provide names of providers in your network, even whether a prescription or service is covered under your plan. That would definitely get us on board.
