How to Prevent and Treat Acne Naturally

Acne is not just a teenage problem, though it is most commonly associated with adolescence. Many adults have problems with acne well into their middle age years. Acne is a skin disorder in which too much oil is produced and the skin pores become congested. Pimples, blackheads and whiteheads are the result.

If your diet isn′t balanced or your digestive tract isn′t working properly, your skin can be adversely affected. One of the best natural ways to prevent skin diseases such as acne is to make sure that you exercise, drink plenty of water, eat lots of fruit and vegetables and avoid too much tea, coffee and alcohol.

From time to time, because of fluctuating hormones or any number of other situations, your skin will experience troubles despite your best efforts. But there’s no need to rush out and buy costly skin care regimes in order to see fantastic improvements in clearing up your outbreaks.

Here are some home remedies you may want to try:

    * Aloe Vera - The juice or gel found in the aloe vera plant helps to heal skin problems such as acne. Use twice a day to reduce scarring and as a skin cleanser.

    * Apple Cider Vinegar - It’s the acid in apple cider vinegar that works to keep your skin pores clear. It can also eliminate bacteria and get rid of excessive oil on your skin.

    * Brewer’s Yeast - Sprinkle a teaspoon or two of brewer’s yeast on your morning hot or cold cereal to keep your skin clear and put a stop to the buildup of bacteria that causes acne. Chromium is a major ingredient in brewer’s yeast, and this mineral helps to manage how your body processes sugar.

    * Egg Whites - Apply egg whites to your skin just like a facial mask. Wait several minutes, and rinse off with water. Egg whites are an excellent, all natural astringent treatment.

    * Green Tea - Green tea can be very helpful in thwarting an acne flare up due to its antioxidant properties. These antioxidants attack free radicals in your system that can damage your skin’s tissues and cells, without unpleasant side effects.

    * Oatmeal - Oatmeal has a time honored reputation for clearing up skin problems due to its ability to pull out oil and dirt from the skin. Smooth some cooked oatmeal, which has been allowed to cool, on your face, leave it on for fifteen minutes or so and then rinse with water.

Acne is a painful and sometimes embarrassing condition that can cause issues of low self-esteem and loss of self-confidence. You likely won′t feel at all sociable when you have an obvious acne outbreak. Your tendency might be to stay in the house, soothing your down feelings with fattening food and self pity.

As an alternative, try indulging your body by testing a few of the tips above. There are many other natural products and treatments for acne which are safe for your skin. You don′t necessarily need to purchase pricey products that might just make your problem worse instead of better.

    All about Healthy Cooking

Healthy cooking doesn’t mean that you have to pay outrageous amounts of money for a gourmet chef or those overly-priced cooking utensils, or even those expensive cookbooks. Healthy cooking also doesn’t mean that you have to cut out all of the foods that you love to eat.

Essentially, many foods are very healthy. What makes them unhealthy is how people prepare and cook them. Healthy cooking means that you are able to eat all of the food that you like to eat without having to feel like you are ruining your dieting plan or your health.

Healthy cooking can be done very easily at home. You don’t even need to waste time finding a recipe! Here are some tips that can help you turn your meals into healthy, wholesome food or everyone.

    Techniques for Healthy Cooking

Despite what you may think, cooking methods aren’t created equal. A food can be filled with all of the essential vitamins and nutrients before it is cooked, but after it is cooked the wrong way, all of the nutrients disappear. The question stands, how can you cook delicious food while keeping all of the essential vitamins and nutrients in the food?

There are many ways that you can cook your favorite foods in a healthy manner. These methods will allow you to keep all of the natural nutrients and flavors of the food without adding salt or unnecessary fats.

One way to cook food in a healthy way is Asian stir-fry. With stir-fry, small pieces of food are cooked in a large wok or a non-stick frying pan. If you use a wok, you might need to use a little bit of cooking spray because you will be constantly tossing the food, so you want to make sure that it is not sticking to the pan and causing you any sort of hassle. This works perfectly, especially if you are cooking a meal that includes noodles, rice, vegetables, and small pieces of meat.

Many times when people cook vegetables, especially Americans, they lose the nutrients that they have because salt and butter is added. When a vegetable is cooked the right way, there is hardly any need to cover up the taste with salt and fat.

Another great way to cook healthily is to use a roasting pan when cooking meat. When you use a roasting pan, all of the fat is able to drip off of the food while cooking. This way, your meat isn’t soaking in all of its fats and juices while you cook it. If you want to find a way to keep your meat tasty and full of flavor, baste it with wine or lemon juice instead of using its own drippings.

If you use these tips in the kitchen, you are sure to be on your way to a healthy cooking lifestyle that you will enjoy.

Get Your Work-Life Balance Back With Yoga

With stressful working environments and hectic schedules, many people struggle with the negative impact of their busy work lives. Those who have difficulty managing their personal and work lives in balance with each other are increasingly turning to yoga. Yoga gives them peace of mind so that they can achieve a perfect work-life balance.

The mind-body connection is piquing interest in this ancient practice, and research shows that it can indeed reduce blood pressure and stress, improve your work performance, and even make you age more slowly.

Although the focus on yoga may be different depending on the environment, its basic premise is to relax the body while keeping the mind focused and alert. For example, when you do yoga, you focus on body movement, breath, sound or even an object. When your mind wanders, as it inevitably will, you bring your attention back and start again.

The ancient practice of yoga garnered renewed interest in the 1960s, when those interested in consciousness began to follow its practices. However, after this, yoga began to fall out of favor. It may have been because yoga is not quite like other types of exercise. For one, you need patience in order to get its full benefits. It offers steady but slow results. This is in direct contrast to the almost frenetic activity and quick results of aerobics.

Many people rush to work out every day during their lunch hours, force themselves to keep up a brisk pace, and then rush back to work. Of course, it’s probably physically beneficial, but it still adds pressure to an already overwhelmed life. Yoga, by contrast, offers a less competitive and stressful way to work out, while supporting and even causing an overall feeling of simply “being.”

One of the major reasons yoga is making a comeback is because it can be so healing as an activity. The over-the-top push for fitness generated by the traditional exercise regimes of aerobics, running, or weight lifting also has caused injuries, including neck pain, back pain, or strained knees. Because we are such a competitive society, these activities have also inspired books, tapes and videos touting this or that as the latest and greatest thing.

Today, even health practitioners are getting in on yoga practice, with chiropractors, neurologists and orthopedic surgeons sometimes referring patients to specific yogis during treatment.

In fact, it’s moving to the mainstream increasingly. Mainstream hospitals and businesses are now having yoga techniques taught, while books about these techniques are bestsellers, with discussion groups on the Internet springing up to talk about this “new” innovation as well.

Surprisingly, perhaps, even the Army has gotten in on the act. It has asked the National Academy of Sciences to study New Age techniques such as meditation to see if soldiers’ performance can be enhanced in this way.

In addition, yoga has become a pursuit for some runners, weight trainers or aerobic dancers who don’t find peace in their exercise regimes and want the de-stressing aspects of yoga to be part of their workouts.

Approximately 60 to 90% of doctors’ visits in the U.S. are related to stress. Mind-body approaches offer cost-effective and safe treatments for this ailment that don’t involve drugs or surgery. Among people who use these techniques, 34% of patients who are infertile get pregnant within six months, while 70% of those who have trouble sleeping or even have medically defined insomnia become regular sleepers. In addition, the numbers of those suffering from pain and making regular doctor visits because of it go down by 36%.
