Upper Endoscopy: How to Endure It

Some of the methods that doctors use to diagnose gastroesophageal reflux disease can be confusing or difficult to understand. When it comes time for you to decide which diagnosis procedure you would like your doctor to use for you, it would be in your best interests to inform yourself about upper endoscopy, one common technique for acid reflux diagnosing.

You will want to know how to prepare yourself for this procedure and what information you will get from going through with it. You can find out by reading on.

What is this procedure exactly? An upper endoscopy will permit your doctor to see what is happening on your insides without ever having to make an incision. For this reason it is truly a marvel of modern medicine. In order to accomplish this, your physician will introduce a tube with a small camera into your throat and into your stomach. A television connected to that camera will let you doctor see if you have any abrasions on your stomach or esophagus.

To prepare for this procedure, you should not eat or drink anything for a minimum of six hours prior to undergoing the upper endoscopy. This is common for procedures involving the digestive system.

If you have any special circumstances like an allergy to a certain medication or some kind of unique condition, you need to tell you doctor about this in a conversation the two of you have before he conducts the procedure.

Recovery time after an upper endoscopy is not long or difficult. Doctors will take note of the condition of your throat after the procedure and will most likely want to keep you under observation until the medication you were given has entirely worn off.

Any soreness in your throat will go away quickly. If you are having discomfort when swallowing, you may be given a chemical to gargle with. You will be able to eat normally the same day you undergo the procedure.

While some doctors are able to give you some idea of the results of the procedure the very same day that they conduct it, the majority of physicians will let you know after they receive the exact results, which tends to take three or four days.

One of the most useful gifts that science and technology have provided for us is the heart rate monitor. Garmin has taken the responsibility of putting heart rate monitors within reach of the common man by packaging it in the form of a watch. Garmin has created a number of models that not only monitor the heart rate, but also work for you as a personal fitness instructor.

The heart rate monitors constantly keeps tabs on the increasing and decreasing heartbeat of a person as he or she exercises. The heart monitors use one of two methods: the GPS technology or the Footpod system. The user must choose one of the features to get the best one for his or her workout regimen.

Often, the Garmin Forerunner with heart rate monitors use the GPS technology. GPS is short for Global Positioning System. These systems include an antenna that is constantly taking in signals through satellite it analyzes the pace, time, and direction at which the user is heading. These are viewable on the screen any time you are working out. The Footpod is generally worn on the shoe, as opposed to the Garmin Forerunner heart rate monitor which is worn and functions like a watch.

Garmin heart rate monitors turn to the GPS technology and make it useful to people who enjoy jogging and strolling outside. The GPS gives you undisrupted signal power even if you end up beside a high building or if you take a break under the shade of a tree. The GPS monitors the workout information even when you do other sports like bicycling and skiing.

Of all the Garmin GPS Watches with heart rate monitors, the Forerunner 305 is considered to be the most helpful and precise. The signal is constant, which raises this device above the majority of other heart rate monitors available in the market. The Forerunner 305 also includes a curved antenna, which helps the device attain excellent reception of signals.

Garmin has recently launched its newest model, the Forerunner 50. It has an enhanced heart rate monitor. If you want exactitude and a lot of information, this unit can’t be beaten. It is wireless and therefore simple for the users to to take anywhere. They are a good value for the money and are extremely stylish. You can make use of it while walking and cycling. It continually collects data on the distance, pace, and time. This collected data is retained within the device for the user to view, evaluate, and use at a later date.

Moving data from the Garmin Forerunners to your laptop is a simple process as long as you utilize Garmin’s own software. The user can also get involved in the online Garmin network. You can check lap distance, lap pace, and lap time in the Garmin Forerunners. You can also check out your average and personal best paces. The Garmin Forerunners with Heart Rate Monitors are systems that you won’t be able to turn down. You will feel like wearing your watch around the clock.

Advanced Ab Exercise For Ripped Abs

Your midsection is made up of several different muscle groups. You must sculpt each of these abdominal muscles if you are ever going to achieve the much desired six pack. This is only possible by using effective ab exercises. But carving out your the muscles of your midsection is only half the fun!

To have your toned abs finally become visible, you must burn off the layer of fat that is covering this hidden treasure. Now let me share with you an ab exercise that causes you to achieve both of these goals simultaneously!

Typically, the majority of ab exercises work your abs in an isolated fashion. Although these exercises will train your abs, they do not cause a fat burning effect. The exercises that I prescribe are designed to decrease belly fat while simultaneously strengthening and sculpting your ab muscles.

Now let me show you a great exercise that has the dual effect that we just mentioned. I call this exercise the Parallel Bar Knee Raise. This is not an exercise for beginners. This movement does require a solid base of upper body strength. This is how to do it properly:

Parallel Bar Knee Raise- With straight elbows, support your body on parallel dip bars. Keep your upper body as upright as possible. Flex hips until they make a 90 degree angle. This is the starting position. From this position, bring knees up to chest and contract your abs intensely. Return to starting position and repeat.

As I have mentioned, this is an advanced exercise. If you are unable to perform this exercise properly, I recommend starting off with less difficult exercises in order to achieve a solid base of required strength.

One great exercise that helps prepare you for the Parallel Bar Knee Raise is the Reverse Crunch. Begin in a horizontal position and progress towards vertical as your abs get stronger. In just a short amount of time, you will be moving on to more advanced movements.

Alright, good luck, and go get yourself some ripped abs!

Salary Negotiation 101

by Trevor Davide Grant

Once a person asked me if it was okay to talk about their salary history with an employer during an interview. They were concerned about discussing their history because it was a little low and they thought it would have a negative effect on their salary negotiation. They were wondering how they could avoid the topic with the employer until the right time. My rule is to never be dishonest with an employer, however it is a good idea to avoid this topic until you have nearly closed the deal with getting the job.

When I have been pressured by HR for an response to that question in the past, my preferred approach is outlined in the following checklist.

1) The approach I would take would be to ask to table the question until later in the interview or for another day. It is important to me that we have first come to a common understanding on the roles and responsibilities of the job, and also, the type of experience I bring to the job, and what I will be contributing to the new company. I would prefer to be paid in line with the current job market and within the companies standards for this role.

2) I have been pressed for an answer several times, and my response is to first try to push it until later in the meeting. I explain that while it is important to me, it is not the most important factor. I would rather ensure that both the employer and I are happy with one another, and that the job lines up with my experience and that my contributions and the company’s salary line up within both a fair market value and within the company guidelines. There are many factors beyond just cash that need to be discussed before we can address the salary bottom line.

3) While you may feel you are a high performer, you also may be somewhere above average but not commanding the highest pay. Know the salary range for the job you are applying to, but be realistic when setting your percentile level for your salary expectation. The majority of people are between the 25% and 75% level. Remember that the employer will confirm your performance level with your past employers at reference checking time.

4) No matter what you made at your previous jobs, your expectation should be set at the fair market value for the job in your region. You may have earned less money in the past than the current expectations, possibly even a lot less. The reasons are not relevant to the new job, and therefore you would prefer to be within the companies fair range. Aim to make it clear to the new employer that you want salary negotiations to be fair, regardless of your past salary history.

5) If you do give in and tell them your past salary, make sure you clearly express that you expect to be paid respectably, and you just don′t want to be taken advantage of. Explain what you do know about the job market at that time. Most employers will respect you for expressing your expectation for your reasonable salary. Just remember salary negotiation is not supposed to be an offensive situation where you are demanding. Remember to be clear in your negotiations but respectful in your dealings with the recruiting manager.

Honesty is imperative when doing interviews. Employers have many means to determine whether you′ve been honest with them in the hiring process. What is most important is to be clear about what you can contribute to the company first, and that you expect fairness in the hiring process.

Can Epoxy Lining Prevent Lead Contamination from Water Pipes

Dr.DaveDunn
Posted by Dr. Dave Dunn January 26, 2009
Categories: Education
by Dr. Dave Dunn

Lead used to be a primary material for water pipes in major U.S. cities, until the early 1900?s. It was so heavily favored because of its durability and malleability. Galvanized steel and copper eventually replaced lead, and copper pipe became the most popular material used in home water service and distribution in post 1950 construction.

Lead contamination was the top source of lead-related health issues before the hazards of ingesting it were known. The cause was pipe corrosion and erosion, and it raised stillbirth and infant mortality rates. Other plumbing or pipe problems are much easier to spot, but if you?re not testing for lead in your water, you?ll never know it?s there. You can find general information about lead contamination and how to test for it on the EPA?s website.

If your water is lead contaminated, it’s most likely because of one or more of the following: lead service line pipe(s) connecting your house to the municipal water main, lead-based solder (used to join copper pipes), and brass or chrome-plated brass faucets. In 1986, Congress banned the use of lead solder containing greater than 0.2% lead, and restricted the lead content of faucets, pipes and other plumbing materials to 8.0%.? This so-called ?lead-free? brass can still legally contain up to 8% lead and plumbing systems installed prior to 1986 can contain high levels of lead from both plumbing components and lead solder.

Water lines from the city or town water main to a home or building?s water system may be a lead pipe in older structures. If you or a previous owner of the structure had your plumbing system upgraded since 1960, it?s probably composed of galvanized pipe. Galvanized pipe doesn?t need lead solder to be joined. Faucets need to be checked for brass or chrome-plating, you?re the original manufacturer, a local hardware store, or a licensed plumber should be able to tell you if yours contain either.

If you have lead contamination from your pipes, epoxy lining can be your solution. Once installed it is a barrier to lead leaching into your drinking water. The epoxy lining prevents the metal of the pipe and the water flowing through from coming into direct contact. This prevents the chemical reaction that causes pipe corrosion. Epoxy pipe lining eliminates and prevents lead and other metals (from your pipes) leaching into the water, as well as a host of other poor water quality issues such as: water that?s red, brown, blue or yellow, zinc or iron leeching in galvanized pipes causing a metallic taste, and bacteria that causes bad tasting water or water that smells.

A relatively unknown technology, epoxy pipe lining is not a new technology, –in fact it?s well proven. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Navy have both ested and approved the use of epoxy pipe lining to prevent contaminants, including lead, from leaching into drinking water. Their reports are published and links to them can be found at http://curaflo.com/CuraFlo/ResourceCenter. The epoxy used by CuraFlo in epoxy pipe lining, CuraPoxy?, is certified to meet the U.S.

There is no need for health concerns when it comes to epoxy lining your pipes, CuraFlo?s epoxy, CuraPoxy?, is certified to meet ANSI/NSF Standard 61 - the U.S. government standard for safe potable (drinking) water. ANSI/NSF Standard 61 certification means that something is certified safe to be used in potable water pipes at temperatures up to 180? Fahrenheit or 82.2? Celsius. CuraFlo?s epoxy pipe lining process protects you from lead (and other metals) in your pipes leaching into your water by preventing these metals from leaching into your water.

Sprint Reverse Cell Phone Number Search -Know Who Owns The Number

by Davion W

Having to look for a Sprint number is not easy because of privacy laws, daily generated additions to the directory and cost issues. Still, it is not impossible to track down Sprint numbers through the internet.

One way to track down a number is by using Google White Pages wherein the number is typed into the search box with other details available. Searching is free of charge. Another option would be making a Sprint reverse cell phone number search.

One way to track down the owner of a phone number without having to pay is using the Google White Pages. The user types the number and then clicks search to find results. Other sites offering free phone number search would be the free white pages listings. One sure option for Sprint users to consider would be the Sprint reverse cell phone number search.

Making a Sprint reverse cell phone number searches is possible. A contract is made between Sprint and the website to enable them to access Sprint’s database. A Sprint reverse search for cell phone numbers will reveal information like the name, address, email address, any legal records, carrier information and other numbers like landline and pager numbers.

Paying for a Sprint reverse cell phone number search can cost up to $500 at the highest. If the search is really important, payment might just be worth it. If other cell phone number searches are planned for the future, lifetime memberships might be a better and cheaper option. If in any case, no results are found and the customer is unhappy with the service, refunds and money back guarantees are offered by the site.

Directories are not available to the public for certain reasons. People value privacy and protection much more than their cell phones, which is why the rates for a cell phone number search is very expensive.

Before choosing a site to track a number, research on these sites and be sure to canvass the costs and the benefits offered by each of them. Avoid making quick decisions in choosing a website so not to end up being scammed.

I, myself have used the features of Sprint reverse cell phone number search. I have listed down the sites that are useful enough. Visit my blog to read my reviews and save yourself from scams.

Calculating your necessities during retirement can be much easier with a retirement planning calculator. It can help you determine how much money you will need each month of your retirement years. Then you will be able to plan accordingly when preparing for retirement. That means that once you reach retirement age you will not be worrying about whether you have enough money to care for your needs and maintain your standard of living.

Most people looking forward to retirement do not want to go from one job to another because they find out that they do not have the necessities to retire on time. Early in their careers people should find a good retirement planning calculator, and they should take the information from this device seriously.

A retirement planning calculator is often available from the human resources department of some companies, and other retirement planning calculators are available from banks and other financial institutions. These retirement planning calculators can often be accessed on the websites of these institutions.

Of course the retirement planning calculator will only be useful if the information entered is accurate. Also, once the information is entered the direction given by the retirement planning calculator must be followed in order to maximize your savings for retirement. So once you locate your retirement planning calculator you must give some serious thought to how you will use it.

A Retirement Planning Calculator Provides Figures For The Future

So many things change when you retire. Your job will no longer dictate certain aspects of your life. If you chose your current home because of a job opportunity retirement will afford you the opportunity to relocate to a preferred area. These new choices and changes will create new financial decisions and circumstances.

Some of these decisions could make a substantial difference in the funds available for retirement living. While working and raising a family, people have to consider schools for their children, and they usually have to pay taxes for good schools. After raising their family, they no longer need a community with great schools so they might avoid high property taxes.

People also need to consider their healthcare costs after retirement. Many people get their health insurance from their employment. After a certain age, people will get their healthcare insurance from the government. If people want to retire before they are eligible for government healthcare benefits, they might have to factor in additional healthcare costs. All of these factors could be considered with a good retirement planning calculator. Careful planning with one of these special devices could make for a truly delightful retirement.

Storing Large Items Checklist

AmyNutt
Posted by Amy Nutt January 24, 2009
Categories: Environment
by Amy Nutt

There are times in which we have to store large items. We may not have room for them in our homes, storage sheds, and garages. That means it is time to rent public storage space or to somehow make some room. It can seem like such an incredible feat. Actually, it can seem like an impossible feat. That is why you have to be rather methodical in how you go about this endeavor.

Before you even write down your checklist, you have to make sure you have help if you need it so that you can customize your checklist the way you need to. How you construct your list depends on what you’re moving and what your particular situation is. Just make sure that you have everything covered and that you abide by your checklist so that you can avoid as many obstacles as possible.

So here is your checklist: - Whether you’re storing your large items somewhere on your property or elsewhere, you need to measure them. This is so you can make sure you leave enough storage room.

- You also need to get an idea of the weight so that you know how many people it will take to move the items and what tools you will need to make the move. It may be something that needs a dolly or another type of cart to move it.

- Clear out the space that you need to store the item. This can be a great opportunity to throw away those things that you don’t need anymore.

- Once you have cleared out a space or you have rented a public or self storage space, it is time to make the move.

- If you must use a truck, make sure you have a ramp that you can use or some sort of hydraulic lift to get the large items in the truck. If you don′t have a truck of your own, you can rent one.

- After you have loaded the items in the truck, it is then time to make your move. Once you get to your destination, you have to be very careful unloading the items.

- If you’re storing the items on your property, make sure you clear out a path between where the items are and the place in which you’re storing them. This is so you don′t hit any unexpected bumps and so that no one trips.

- Once you have your large item to its destination, you can then cover it with a furniture pad or a sheet. This is so dust and other harmful elements that may be present don′t become an issue. Storage buildings are climate controlled now, but if dust is a concern, you can still cover your items.

In the meantime, make sure you take safety into account. Look into back supports so that you don′t hurt yourself when lifting. If you’re using a dolly, a palate jack, or another sort of cart, make sure all the parts are working so that you don′t find yourself in a dangerous situation. You also want to make sure you use straps where appropriate. Many people are injured annually because of large items falling over onto them. If an item over 500 pounds falls onto a person, they can actually die of asphyxiation, so make sure everything is secure when it is in transit.

When you are finished following your checklist, you’ll be glad that you created it because it helps move things along seamlessly. In other words, a big job is made a lot easier.
